Master Sergeant Jeffrey Tomczak (44) bravely battled a 15-month long fight with cancer and ultimately passed July 26, 2024. Jeff began his military career in 1997 as a fire fighter with the US Army then enlisted into US Army Reserves. He later continued his services to the country as a member of both the Pennsylvania Air Nation Guard and New Jersey National Guard. Jeff deployed to Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait and the United Emirates. In addition to his military service, he was a member of the Upper Geynedd Volunteer Fire Department for over 28 years and achieved the rank of Chief shortly before his death. Additionally, Jeff served with Allentown Fire Department for over 14 years and rose to the rank of Fire Marshall. After being diagnosed with cancer, Jeff became an advocate for occupational illnesses born from exposures to civilian and military firefighters from equipment, agent, gear, and toxic by-products of combustion found in modern furniture and electronics , as well as the burn pits utilized at remote military bases during the United States War on Terror. Jeff leaves behind his wife, Brittany and their 2 sons, Matthew(14), Connor(10) along with his loving family, friends and follow fire/military service members.
Staff Sergeant Robert “Bob” McCarty (43) went home to be with the Lord on August 14, 2021 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. In January of 2001, Bob joined the Atlantic City Fire Department which he served honorably for 20 years and moved through the rank obtaining Captain in 2019. While in the fire department, Bob nobly joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves in NJ then later joined the New Jersey Air National Guard. Bob deployed to Iraq and Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Bob was an avid member of Troop 76 where he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout and dedicated countless hours helping the organization. Bob spent many hours being involved or just volunteering his time during his children’s sporting events. There wasn’t a culinary dish Bob couldn’t make, he passionately loved to cook for his family and the firehouse. Bob leaves behind his wife Cheryl and their children, Devin (21), Emily (15), Bobby (13), Ryan (11) along with his loving family, friends and fire/military service members.
